Our mission is to improve the lives of people by developing cutting-edge medical technologies that address unmet needs in healthcare.Job OverviewThe VP, Technology will report to the Chief Technology Officer and provide strategic leadership and hands-on oversight in three critical areas: software architecture and engineering, data engineering, and tech infrastructure. Leading a team of software engineers, data engineers, software architects, and the infrastructure engineers, this role will drive the development of Sequel's patient portal, data platform, and tech infrastructure to ensure seamless and compliant technology operations. This individual will bring significant experience in life sciences or FDA-regulated environments, with a preference for digital healthcare, and will have strong expertise in software engineering, data, and tech infrastructure.Job Responsibilities and Essential Duties

  • Software Architecture and Engineering: Lead the development of Sequel's digital product offerings, including the patient portal and associated healthcare applications, focusing on robust, scalable architecture. Partner with product teams to design, build, and refine these solutions, ensuring they meet high standards for usability, performance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Data Engineering and Platform Development: Oversee the build-out of Sequel's data engineering platform, enabling secure, high-quality data storage, processing, and analytics capabilities. Implement best practices for data governance, integrating data solutions that support patient outcomes and product innovation.
  • Infrastructure Management: Ensure a reliable and secure infrastructure to support all company needs, including computers, iPads, networking, and the MS Office suite. Lead initiatives to optimize performance, security, and availability of Sequel's technology assets, supporting both internal teams and customer-facing operations.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Thought Leadership: Bring expertise in life sciences and/or FDA-regulated environments to ensure compliance in all technology functions, providing thought leadership on regulatory best practices within a digital healthcare setting.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Mentor and coach team members, fostering a collaborative, high-performance culture. Provide guidance and growth opportunities to develop team members' skills and career trajectories.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with stakeholders across the company to align technology initiatives with business goals and customer needs, acting as a bridge between technical and non-technical teams.Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in software engineering, data, and infrastructure roles, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Proven track record within life sciences or FDA-regulated environments; experience in digital healthcare is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in software development, data engineering, and IT infrastructure management.
  • Experience in startup or small to midsize company environments, comfortable with fast-paced, hands-on roles.
  • Strong people management skills, with a focus on team mentoring, coaching, and development.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, able to work effectively across teams and translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders.
