• Coordinate and expedite throughput activity on behalf of patients who seek care in the Emergency Department.
• Have final accountability and authority regarding patient flow and react to the immediate operational needs of the department.
• Supervise and direct other members of the Emergency Department interdisciplinary team to assist in the coordination and advancement of care throughout the patient experience.
• Collaborate with other departments such as housekeeping, escort, and admitting to coordinate resources to facilitate and maximize throughput.
• Evaluate capacity of services and be accountable for facilitating the appropriate response to volume demands.
• Graduated from an approved school of nursing, BSN required. MSN preferred. CEN preferred.
• Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Massachusetts.
• Extensive knowledge of patient flow and emergency department operations.
• Continually update clinical knowledge & skills through formal and informal education and review of the current literature.
• Proven ability to work well independently, possess sound decision-making skills, and work effectively when required to make and facilitate complex decisions.Brigham and Women's Hospital is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
