Job DescriptionDewberry has an immediate opportunity for an
experienced Project Bridge Engineer/Inspection Engineer in our
Boston, MA office with 5-15 years of AASHTO bridge design
experience. The successful candidate will oversee and participate
in the design of simple and complex bridges (primarily of steel and
concrete construction) and a variety of transportation related
structures (retaining walls, culverts, sign structures and other
miscellaneous structures). Bridge design work encompasses new and
replacement bridges, bridge widenings, and bridge rehabilitation.
The candidate will also be responsible for performing In-Service
Bridge and Tunnel Inspections in Boston and throughout the
Commonwealth, and performing live-load ratings for vehicular and
railroad bridges.Responsibilities
- Assigns tasks to engineers, technicians or administrative
staff.
- Plans and coordinates aspects of work, and performs analysis
and design.
- Prepares scope, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
- Assists with proposals to provide professional services.
- Work outdoors in diverse weather conditions, at heights, in
confined spaces, over water and in close proximity to traffic.
- Working skill in the use of various inspection
instruments.
- Bridge safety inspection experience and successful completion
of comprehensive NHI bridge inspection training course or current
level III or IV Bridge Safety Inspection Certification under NICET
program and successful completion of comprehensive NHI bridge
inspection training course.Required Skills & Required Experience
- BS in Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of bridge
engineering experience.
- Professional Engineering license is preferred.
- Experience with MassDOT and/or MBTA is preferred.
- Ability to use computer applications, bridge engineering
software and AutoCAD.
- Experience with AASHTOWare Bridge Rating software is
preferred.
- Physical ability to perform field work around bridges and
tunnels.
- Understanding of bridge safety inspection methods, structural
behavior, deterioration characteristics of bridge materials, and
bridge maintenance, repair and rehabilitation methods is
